Participants in SomoS’ third – Berlin Fashion Week art & fashion exhibition Alter Angle, Âme Sœur was founded in 2008 by sisters Sabina and Madina Taschén. While Sabina got her diploma in modeling and styling at Esmod Berlin, Madina graduated in Business Administration, making them an ideal team to create and develop a fashion label. After spending the first five years of their collaboration in Paris, the duo returned to Berlin. The style of Âme Sœur is defined by three- dimensional shapes, unique volumes and self-designed kaleidoscope prints.
Âme Sœur’s art installation for the Alter Angle exhibition Summer 2014 shows through different medias the universe of the print design from the Âme Sœur A/W 14 collection. Typically for Âme Sœur, the inspiration for the print design is nature. This time focusing on bugs and birds such as turkey, starlings and merls with a naturistic look and clear structures of their heads, feathers, rumps and toes which one find widly assembled into a collage art piece. The featured collection image film “Voodoo Future” with its wild headdresses, mannequins dressed in Âme Soeur fashion and wall objects are further reflections of this universe.
