“In Between” is a movement based performance that uses dance and actions to navigate our exploration of the “in between.” It is composed of two separate pieces which explore questions of race and gender identities. It challenges norms, the binary and established expectations in subjects that lie close to the artists’ hearts both personally and politically. With Mette Loulou being mixed race and Beck Heiberg being transgender, the artists use their personal experiences and transform them into art.
About the artists:
Beck, born in Copenhagen, Denmark is a dancer trained in urban and underground styles. He is known for androgynous and high performance quality in his work. He is currently located in Paris, France.
Mette Loulou was born in New York City. Although trained in traditional acting techniques, she now uses her love of dance and visual art in her performance work. She has lived in Morocco, Romania and Copenhagen, and now resides in New York City.
An impromptu occasion to see the performance during its European tour along such places like Warehouse9, Folkets Hus and La Mutinerie Paris.
