23 – 26 September 2013
10:00 – 16:00 h
The four day workshop takes place during the “Algemeinplätze und Nahaufnahmen” exhibition at SomoS, where Del Giudice’s large format camera photography is displayed; most of which was produced during his artist residency at the Berlin art house. It constitutes the beginning of a larger programm of arts & music workshops at SomoS Fall 2013.
This workshop is conducted in English and takes place in the privacy of SomoS’ Studio I. It concentrates on two principal themes: the practice of photographing with a large format camera, and the theoretical and cultural implications of photography today.
The large format camera has unique features that influence the photographic process and the quality of the resulting image, offering greater pictorial control. Large format photography provides the possibility of creating extraordinarily clear images because of the larger film size and the photographer’s ability to expose and process sheet film individually.
During the workshop, we will focus on specific practical capabilities of the large format camera, both in the urban landscape and portrait, mixing it with the exploration of he greatest contemporary art using photography as a mean of expression.
The workshop participation is limited and will be realized with a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 participants. It is therefore suggested to the parties concerned to submit the application form in advance.
The fee for the workshop is 250 € all included:
Equipment: Large Format camera 4×5 inch
Films: Kodak Portra 400 NC 4×5
Please send up to 10 low resolution images in a pdf, or viewed online (website, facebook, instagram, flickr, etc.)plus CV at: ws.largeformatphotography@
The selection of candidates takes place on the basis of the portfolio quality. Applicants will be informed in less than 24h.
About Donato del Giudice:
The relationship between us and the surrounding space is inseparable. Space built by man for man influences every day our mood and the way to act. Our living space becomes many times the portrait of ourselves. The everyday life exposes us to continuous testing, which we can not escape.
With a large format camera 8×10, Del Giudice portrays his generation in their daily intimacy.
