Larissa Fassler

Larissa Fassler participated in the 2013 SomoS’ group show Allgemeinplätze + Nahaufnahmen, which by and large took its cue from her work: the poetic, private experience of public urban and architectural space, and an obsessive, quirky old school interpretation and mapping of some of its aspects.

We shape architecture, then architecture and dystoptian surroundings shape our lives, art allows us to take a step back and contemplate the implications.

Working with this theme through an array of techniques (installation, drawing, sculpture), while putting the technical tools of the trade of architecture to fresh and innovative use, or even using her body as measuring tool, Fassler always manages to arrive at an unique artistic position, one that has proven to resonate broadly, way beyond the confines of the art world.
