The Neukoelln Art Prize is a new art prize for artists working in Berlin-Neukölln founded by the “Kulturnetzwerk Neukölln” and the “Fachbereich Kultur des Bezirksamts Neukölln” together with the “Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Stadt und Land.”
This initiative aims to bring the artistic production in Berlin-Neukölln to the attention of a large audience and strengthen the position of the local artists and their creative neighborhood..
An independent jury will decide on the nominated artists.
Independence and originality are the criteria by which the works will be judged; both on the basis of provided documentation and its relation to the full œuvre.
The Neukoelln Art Prize will award 5000 €, divided as follows:
1. Prize: 3.500 €
2. Prize: 1.000 €
3. Prize: 500 €
Ten nominated artists selected by the Neukoelln Art Prize jury will present their work in a group exhibition taking place at the communal “Galerie im Saalbau” for which they will receive an exhibition honorarium of 350 €.
Eligible are professional artists of any age who have worked in the Berlin-Neukölln area for at least six months, and have studied art (or have worked professionally for several years.)
A condition of taking part in the Neukoelln Art Prize competition is the participation in the planned atelier tour “Neuköllner Produktion” taking place on January 14/15 2017. On these days the ateliers will be open to the public from 3 – 8pm.
