Q&A with Director 21h
A new installment of SomoS’ screening/talk series “Cinema Conversación” presents the documentary “Seven to One” by Brazilian photographer and independent filmmaker Thiago Dezan. This never-before-seen documentary shows a critical and sensitive view on the protests during the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. He took the risk to look behind the cheerful Brazilian feeling and unmasks the hype about the rolling ball. Seven individual examples will show the difficulties between the prestigious World Cup event and Brazil’s social problems. Often the easy going mentality has to let the cruel reality prevail.
Thiago Dezan will be also present during the finissage, and shall take part in an Q&A after the screening.
About the artist: In his own words, Thiago Dezan “took the street as his main school, in other words, his formation is driven by the empiricism at the univer-city.” Dezan is not only a director, streamer, photographer, producer and coordinator but also works facilitating the dissemination of national Brazilian cinema. He comes from Cuiabá and currently resides in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
We will offer refreshments during the film and to facilitate a lively discussion afterwards.
