Thursday, May 3th 2018, 7-9pm, SomoS hosts the “Sensing the Perfumer” meet up, organized by Smell Lab, featuring Geza Schoen.
Dedicated to olfactory experimentation, Smell Lab was co-founded in 2015 by olfactory artist Klara Ravat. As a non-commercial project, it has established itself as a platform for olfactory art and inter-disciplinary practices that relate to scent as a medium for expression and communication, in Berlin and in an international context. It’s main mission is to co-produce, host, educate, innovate and support artistic practices that involve the sense of smell and olfaction.
During “Sensing the Perfumer,” we will meet and chat with Geza Schoen, a Berlin-based niche perfumer with a reputation of being a rebel in the fragrance world.
Geza Schoen was trained at Haarmann & Riemer (now Symrise). In 2001, disillusioned with the industry’s commercialization, he resigned his job in Paris and moved to London, where in 2006 he launched his project Escentric Molecules.
Geza Schoen has collaborated with artists such as Wolfgang Georgsdorf (Smeller 2.0 / Osmodrama) and the Unsound Festival where he created a series of perfumes which connect scent and sound.
At “Sensing the Perfumer,” Geza Schoen will present some of his works and we will have the opportunity to talk to him.
