In May, we welcome new Artists-in-Residence Hagoromo Okamoto and Alexandre Baptista to SomoS.

We would like to thank visual/sound artist, composer, instrument builder Thessia Machado (fellow at the American Academy in Berlin); sound-artists Theresa Stroetges, Volker Straebel and Pedro Lopes; organizer John-Thomas Eltringham, Senior Program Coordinator for The American Academy in Berlin; partners TU-Berlin, and UdK Berlin, and everyone else involved in Thessia’s amazing Telix installation and performances at SomoS. Coinciding with the 2017 “TYPO Berlin” design conference, SomoS presents “Thematic,” an exhibition of experimental visual communication and typography by the Edinburgh-based design group “blueroom collective.”

Between May 31-June 3 2017 SomoS presents the installation/performance Red Feminine Vase (Could Use Some Water), A Self-Portrait by Others/Berlin by current Artist-in-Residence Nina Hong.
Opening reception: May 31: Doors 6pm, Performance 7pm.
Visiting Hours: June 1-3, 2-7pm, or by appointment. (entry free)

Between June 23-25, 2017 SomoS presents the group exhibition “Neues Dasein” in which artists Isabel Ramos, Anais Hazo, Miriam van Beurden and Kalle Kuikkaniemi build immersive performative installations to explore concepts surrounding the self, human interaction and simulation.
