AIR Meetup: GlogauAIR at SomoS

lectures, work demonstrations, atelier visits

The AIR Network Meetup is an opportunity for resident artists from Artist-in-Residence(AIR) initiatives in Berlin to connect, support and network in an informal way. The format of the gathering can range from lectures, artist talks, work demos, to studio visits. The concept is to provide a forum for visiting artists to get to know each other personally as well as to learn about each other’s artistic practice and the projects that are taking place across the city. Artists can give and get feedback on their work in progress, propose collaborations, and share tips and resources to make their stays in Berlin more productive, building on the strength of the diverse network of artists from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds that attend residency programs here throughout the year.

January 11th 2018, artists Hannah Celli, Arthur Laidlaw, Anastasiya Gutnik, Marcia Vaitsman, Rachel Goodwin, Victor Artiga and Zachary Craig and staff of the Berlin GlogauAIR artist residency house visited SomoS and exchanged experiences.

About GlogauAIR

Located in the Kreuzberg neighborhood, the non profit organization GlogauAIR was founded by the Spanish artist Chema Alvargonzález in 2006 with the intention to create a meeting point between artists from all disciplines to work in collaboration, expanding their practice in terms of materials, formats and style. The processes are shown every three months in an open studios exhibition where the public can see the works of the resident artists in a relaxed and festive event.

SomoS resident artists Anastasia Leonova, Kang Dasom, Cho Hyan Soo, Todd Reece Johnson and Syed Shoaib Mahmood gave short lectures, work demonstrations and a peek into their ateliers.

The presentations were followed by informal talks. We are looking forward to further artist exchange meetups.
