AIR Network Meetup: Glogauair at SomoS
Art Residency Network Meetup #2
from: 11.04.2018 to: 11.04.2018
The AIR Network Meetup is an opportunity for resident artists from Artist-in-Residence(AIR) initiatives in Berlin to connect, support and network in an informal way. The format of the gathering can range from lectures, artist talks, work demos, to studio visits. The concept is to provide a forum for visiting artists to get to know each other personally as well as to learn about each other’s artistic practice and the projects that are taking place across the city.
GlogauAIR and SomoS are located just a short walk from each other on either side of the Maybachufer that divides Kreuzberg and Neukölln. They also share many ideological similarities and shared objectives in supporting the development of creative concepts from international emerging artists across a variety of mediums.
On April 11th, 2018, the recently arrived group of GlogauAIR residents for Spring 2018 sat down with SomoS residents and the curatorial team from both organisations for an informal gathering to learn about the current projects and plans for the next three months. The artists enjoyed brunch together and later toured around the studios of SomoS’ resident artists.

Located in the Kreuzberg neighborhood, the non profit organization GlogauAIR was founded by the Spanish artist Chema Alvargonzález in 2006 with the intention to create a meeting point between artists from all disciplines to work in collaboration, expanding their practice in terms of materials, formats and style. The processes are shown every three months in an open studios exhibition where the public can see the works of the resident artists in a relaxed and festive event.
