03.03.2018   - 31.05.2018

Joaquin Margulis Luchsinger was born in Santiago, Chile in 1990. He graduated with maximum distinction from Escuela de Artes Visuales de la Universidad Finisterrae. Luchsinger’s work is driven by constant use of and experimentation with sound. He divides his artistic production into two lines of work: Looking for the sound through the object and applying concepts drawn from the world of sounds in different artistic mediums in order to reach an image.

Recently, Luchsinger has executed a solo exhibition of his Sound of Routine II at the Universidad Finisterrae and has also taken part in the group exhibition [con/re/di]sonante at Casa Central Universidad de Chile.

Commenting on his artistic relationship to sound and the object, he notes:

Why sound? I work with sound because with sound you can’t ignore it. If you try to cover your ears you will still hear yourself breathing. Why through the object? The architecture or the characteristics of a given object directly influence the sound result.

We should not fear change, or noise, or breaking the routine. I invite people who see my work, to be aware of it, of the imperfect, obvious, but beautiful operation of which we are part, and try to appreciate it as much as possible. To be surprised with obvious things which surround us is an exercise that we should practice daily.
