Michael Sven Meier

A participant in SomoS’ current group exhibition Un_Becoming, multidisciplinary artist Michael Sven Meier was born 1992 in Erlangen (Germany) and lives and works in Berlin and Nürnberg.
His conceptual, radical queer approach employs techniques such as photo- and video installation, performance, and artist books.
After studying Art History and Jewish Studies at Freie Universität Berlin from 2011-2013, Meier is currently studying Fine Arts under Prof. Heike Baranowsky at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nürnberg since 2013. Furthermore, he is studying in the class for Multimedia Art under Prof. Dr. Hito Steyerl and Moving Image under Prof. Anna Anders at the University of the Arts Berlin. From 2016 to 2017 he studied in the class for Contextual Painting, Trans-Art, under Prof. Ashley Hans Scheirl at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
The artist’s works have been exhibited in Berlin, Halle (Saale) and Nürnberg. In 2015 he was awarded with the Class Prize from the Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2016, he is a scholar of the German National Academic Foundation („Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes“).
Michael Sven Meier’s one channel video installation Ammonite is presented as part of SomoS’ the Un_Becoming group exhibition, October 23 – November 3 2018.
