Due to the easing of the social distancing restrictions, SomoS is excited to be able to announce the new dates for the solo exhibition Meme Paintings, by Jiyeon Kim.
SomoS is taking precautions to ensure the safety of our patrons and staff, and ask that all visitors to the gallery wear face masks or scarf and maintain the recommended distance of 2m. SomoS can accommodate a limited amount of visitors per day in this gradual reopening period. You are advised to schedule a visit by emailing email@example.com.
About the Exhibition
The phenomena and state of mind depicted in Jiyeon Kim’s Meme Paintings have gained currency, as our already technologically focused world finds itself increasingly turning online. As we have been forced to stay inside during the global pandemic, often our only source of contact to the outside world is through our screens. Kim’s solo exhibition deals with feelings of disorientation and stress in regard to our perilous state and how we perceive our reality based on the overflow of media content seen on the internet.
After the pandemic break, artist residencies at SomoS Berlin Artist-in-Residence Program are again possible.
Several new discount options, as well as a “Virtual Artist Residency,” are available, aiming to help artists in these precarious times. We urge artists to use this period to apply for funding; as many Art Councils and funding bodies are again active. Inquiries for specific periods are welcome and residents will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Please visit our Artist-in-Residence pages for more information.
