SOMOS BERLIN ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE OPEN CALL 2019
NEW RESIDENT ARTISTS
SomoS is happy to welcome several new artists to its Berlin Artist-in-Residence Program Spring 2019.
Marcia Vaitsman, PhD, is a multi-disciplinary artist born in Brazil and currently based in New Jersey, USA. Marcia’s work is rooted in the theme of migration, and how both the body and the mind cope with disorientation.
Dongyan Chen (Singapore) is a Chinese-born, London-based fine artist and illustrator. Chen explores the making and reconstructing of memories and dreams through sound, installation, photography, video, and drawing.
Ivetta Sunyoung Kang is a Montreal-based South Korean multidisciplinary artist. She is interested in the “dead memories” imprinted in found analog film footage. She appropriaties these in her art while subverting the initial commercial purpose of the material.
French-born painter Christie MacDonald explores our internet-focused world in thought-provoking abstractions. A presentation of her work is coming up shortly.
Hanae Moreno joins us from Geneva to pursue her autobiographical figurative painting focused on the self and the body.
